There is no word for what I do, though some come close. Shaman is close, but not quite right. The spiritual work I do is similar in many ways and yet very different, so "non-traditional" makes that description fit. There are some that would call me a Medicine Man, as my Native American heritage would make that connection. Medicine Man is a misnomer, as a well meaning settler (is that an oxymoron?) misinterpreted the word power or energy for medicine, as the native healer was working to heal a member of his nation. Imagine John Wayne saying to the rest of the settlers, "Shoot the Power Man and the Indians will go home. Without Big Power they will lose the will to fight and have to regroup." Love that actor - his best film in my opinion, "The Quiet Man".
Having an immediate gratification problem is sometimes a good thing. As an Energy Healer I expect, and get, immediate results. I say if you go to an energy healer and you still have the pain five minutes later, you wasted your money. The Free Energy I easily gather gets results in five to fifteen seconds; one treatment can last years. Being a conduit for this energy is easy, and sometimes it looks like I did the healing. It only looks that way.
The path I follow is easy - no suffering, no having to become worthy, and no show. I do this work with little or no ceremony. You don't have to follow my God to have the same results I do. Get past the focal point of one God and get to the substance of the message of unconditional love for each other, and acceptance of who we are as we are. Understand we are all a work in progress. If it takes me more than five minutes to do a healing or a spiritual thing, I feel I have done it incorrectly as it took too long. I have a strong connection with Angels, Fairies and Spirits. In some places they put you in a rubber room for saying that you know those to be real in our world.
When I give a blessing some say they can feel the power of it surge through them. Rose Quartz has been known to become clear or even turn white after my blessing or touch. Again, it's not me doing that; it is the power I work with - Free Energy. I hate buzz words and try to use just descriptive words, and not made up ones, for what I do. I'm just trying to keep the work I do simple and easy. If you look above a building or trees you can see this energy. Soft focus your eyes and stare for about thirty seconds or more. When you start to see tiny golden lights moving randomly in graceful patterns, you are seeing the Free Energy that I use in my work. For those who want to learn more, I teach a series of four "Healing with Energy" classes.
The Thunder Nation is also part of my work. They have guided and protected me since I was born. A Thunder Spirit works with electricity - good thing as we humans are bio-electrical in nature. What better Spirit to work with our body and its electrical pathways? When I attach a Healing Thunder Spirit to a person they say they can feel a tingle in their feet or hands; sometimes they feel this tingle travel to the area on which we are working. The side effects of having a Thunder Spirit are many - seeing a Spirit leave the room you are going into even though you are the only one home, the tingles in your body, having electrical appliances turn on in the wee hours of the morning. I love that one.
Teaching is a joy of mine. I show people how to do the Tobacco offering in the ancient way, and they see their Tobacco fade out of existence from their own hand. They often tell me how powerful that is, as they expect that miracle from my hands, but to have it happen for your own hand is a much different message and experience. The message that the Spirits are really there and taking your offering is a big one. You don't have to have faith anymore. You know they are there. "I have faith" is not as powerful a statement as "I know".
I have many websites, a podcast twice a week, email, a blog, a Blackberry cell phone, and am just beginning to give web classes. I teach white people, actually all colors of people, how to do this spiritual work. Reluctantly, I also have an apprentice program. That began last year with four people asking me if they could be my apprentice. I said, "No, thank you." After the fifth person asked me I said yes, and then I asked a student to be my apprentice. You would think it was my idea, but just for the record it wasn't. Spirit molds a person to be the tool it needs them to be. Even a stubborn one like myself gets molded. I lost 37 pounds this year, and am not a Type II diabetic anymore. I love that! Now if it can just mold me into a movie star, I am all set for LA...
Where am I going with all this? In my work I hope to achieve a collective cooperation; none of us came to this life experience to do things alone. Imagine many powerful people all moving in the same direction of change for a better planet and its peoples. I teach to help bring about personal empowerment of the student, not myself. Everything I can do, you can do, too.
May the Grandfather and Grandmother Spirits bless you with discernment, so you know when to stay and when to walk away, when to speak and when to listen, when to do and when not to do. May that inner voice of yours be strengthened so you can hear it easily.

Magic is in the air
I love this time of year, love is in the air. Valentines Day a happy day for some, those who are in love or think they are celebrate this day. Those of us that want to be in love or have just come out of a relationship feel like we are left out of this yearly event. Its an event alright, we have special Candy, Cards, Flowers and gifts just for this one day of showing someone we care in a commercial sort of way.

The life I lead can be magical to some. While I do some routine chores (like answering email, paying bills, folding laundry…), the "spiritual housecleaning" parts of my life may seem more enchanted to some- interpreting dreams, clearing negative energy, shielding, grounding... There has been an opening and it is wonderful! Seems many of us are doing this "spiritual housekeeping" as well. I have found much movement in my relationships as late... showing that there has been growth, healing and expansion in my own energy field as well. There are new relatives popping up everywhere, claiming their gifts and being empowered. I am grateful!

I can identify with the Non-Traditionalist in you. :-)
I'm a pretty non-traditional Daoist also, and live by the Hollow Bamboo Theory...I'm just a hollow piece of bamboo, here to direct the energy/healing that is funneled through me.
Congratulations on your weight loss. I wouldn't mind losing a few pounds myself though I figure that will happen after this transition from Mother to Grandmother.
